Barbagia is a large mountainous region in central Sardinia, near the Gennargentu massif where the island’s highest peak is located – Punta Lamarmora. Here, wonderful places can be found, such as the Supramonte, praised by the composer Fabrizio De Andrè; the Lanaittu valley, where the most ancient human fossils in Sardinia have been found; the Su Gologone spring, a rift in the heart of the mountain at least 135 meters deep; the impressive Gorroppu canyon with walls almost 500 meters high and many other extraordinary nuraghe and nuragic villages such as Tiscali.
